The Maltman - Clynelish 19 year old

One of the latest releases from the Maltman is a Clynelish 19 year old whisky matured in bourbon cask #6918 with a finish in a Lagavulin cask. Distilled in July 1995 and 236 bottles filled in September 2016 at cask strength 51,2%. Release of this expression will be around Oct/Nov 2016.

On the nose I get some beeswax and redcurrant notes at first but after some time it opens up and red apples, lime, heather, cereal, dried fruits, cranberry, pomegranate, grapefruit, thick sweet cherry juice and a muddy ashy note appear...

The palate shows me a lot of the same notes as found on the nose. Warm creamy earthy notes with vanilla, cherries, heather, redcurrant, sweet dried fruit notes, raisins and some mint. There is a good length finish with cassis notes and creamy vanilla.

Reminds me of a roasted ham with warm thick forrest fruit sauce poured over it with some sweet potato mash and roasted squash as side dishes. Lovely dram with some interesting sides to it making me want more of this one. Thanks for sharing a sample Andy!
