Loch Lomond - 12 year old cask strength

Having a look at the 12 year old expression from the Loch Lomond distillery bottled at cask strength 55,7%. A sample was shared when visiting the distillery. Lovely to see what cask strength does for the 12 year old...

A sweet and malty nose with dried fruits, honey, raspberry cheesecake, strawberry, vanilla, black pepper and some young wood light note almost liquerish root. Custard, gooseberry, mango and marzipan.

The palate is full of cassis notes with white and black pepper, ginger cake, candied ginger, sweetness, creamy fruit cake, Turkish delight, powdered sugar, cream buns, liquerish, dried prunes, apricots, red apples, banana, pear juice, blackcurrant and orange marmalade.

Notes much like from the nose also, a balanced, warm, creamy dram. A good length finish with sugary honey fruit almost jelly beans sweetness and fudge. Scoring an 7,5 out of 10.
