The Glencadam 25 years old is matured in American white- oak ex-Bourbon casks and is limited to 1600 bottles at 46%. Recently I had a look at the whisky Origin 1825 from the same distillery and was not overly enthusiastic about it. Curious about this one that was send along with the Origin 1825 and found it interesting to see what 25 years of maturation does to their spirit.
On the nose I find sweet freshness and dried fruit notes with roasted malt, nuts and cereal, candied lemon, hint of nail remover, oranges, toasted wood, white chocolate and marshmallows. The palate is fresh and sweet with a liquerish note mixed with creamy vanilla and sultanas. Dried cranberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and red berries. Lovely other sweet fruit notes beside the red summer fruit section like red apple, fresh pear juice, oranges, lemon, papaya and kiwi fruit.
It has quite a good finish on it with showing sweet roasted cereal notes again covered in honey and red fruits. Sounds like a lush breakfast meal almost looking through the notes. Scoring this an 8,5 out of 10. Thanks Glencadam for sharing these samples!
