Tullibardine 20 year old

This sample of Tullibardine 20 year old whisky, bottled at 43% and matured in first fill bourbon barrels, has been sitting on the shelf for some time now and I forgot a bit about it to be honest. It was part of a tasting pack made by a shop. While reorganising it appeared again and time to have a closer look at.

On the nose I get sweet barley, floor wax, nuts, corn, pot-pourri, laurel, clove, marjoram, woody and herbal notes. Some floral notes of roses and lavender combined with some gooseberry, heavenly burned toast and vanilla.

The palate is a bit herbal and also sweet. It is a mixture between de bitterness of the herbal side and the soft sweet honeyed fruitiness on the other side. Oranges, lime, grapefruit, red apple, strawberries, barley, toast, creamy, vanilla, raisins and chocolate creamy bonbons.

A medium length finish with bitter nutty notes of cashew, almonds and walnuts.  Scoring me an 7,5 out of 10.
