SMWS 9.95 - Playful popping in a fruit market

The SMWS expression called "9.95 Playful popping in a fruit market" is an 23 year old whisky from the Glen Grant distillery bottled at 53,6%. Distilled on the 5th of July 1990 and matured in a refill ex bourbon hogshead producing 204 bottles.

On the nose I find notes of thick sweet custard with red current and strawberries. Pancakes, fudge, syrup, powdered sugar, frosting, marzipan, candied oranges, lemon, grapefruit, green apples, gooseberry, kiwi and a hint of coconut.

Syrupy sweet palate, fruity, light touch of dates and wood, vanilla, powdered sugar, confectioners cream and coconut shavings. Oranges, little bit of fresh mint, fudge, red apple and the feeling of pear juice.

Medium length finish with light feel of some tannins coming through between the vanilla sweetness. Scoring an 7,5 out of 10 for me.
