Gordon & MacPhail - Rare Vintage - Glenlivet 1974

From Gordon & MacPhail a sample was send over in The Wood Makes The Whisky campaign of the Glenlivet 1974 expression in the Rare Vintage series. It is bottled on 10/11/2011 at 43%

On the nose I find lots of dried fruits, vanilla, sultana, toffee and nougat. Bit waxy, light wood and coffee note, peanuts, oranges, red apple, red beets and equaliptus. The palate gives me first loads of sweet warm cinnamon with vanilla pods. Then a creamy feeling of marzipan, cherry, raspberry, honey, toffee and spearmint comes the front. Together with oranges, tangerines, cranberry, cocoa, nutmeg and some other sweet fresh juicy fruits...

Quite a lengthy finish with some other spices and vanilla creaminess mixing into a bit dry wood note. But not an unpleasant one must say, a lovely dram, scoring an 8 out of 10. Thanks for sharing it Gordon & MacPhail!
