To celebrate the 100th anniversary in 2013 of the Beggars Bush pub being family run, the family reproduced the 12 year old single malt with in keeping of their family traditions. Jack Ryan 'Beggars Bush' Single Malt Irish Whiskey, distilled at the Cooley Distillery and bottled at 46%, has been aged for 12 years, with no chill filtration. The whiskey has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels.
On the nose I find honey, roasted nuts (almonds, macademia and peanuts), different fruits, lemon, oranges, ginger cake, vanilla and soft spices. The palate is quite like the nose must say, adding some more intense fruit and spices notes like red apple, banana, ripe pear, mango, aniseed, cumin, caramel and a very small hint of coconut. Overall soft honey sweetness mixed with ginger. On the bit too short and very sweet finish that is lingering towards flavours like pineapple juice a hint of oak and demerara sugar. Easy sipping and fruity sweet dram, scoring me an 7,5 out of 10. Thanks for sharing this one with us in the #JackRyanWhiskey Twitter Tasting! Fruity, fresh and soft spicy with a nutty undertone running through the vanilla sweetness...
