In the #LaddieMP3 tasting from Bruichladdich recently we tasted three expressions in the Micro Provenance series. First one to try was cask #013 and second is cask #543. Distilled in 2003 from Optic barley, matured in a Port hogshead (cask no 15/297 543) in warehouse 11 and bottled in 2015 after 12 years at 60,1%. In total producing 250 bottles.

The nose has something fresh at first with citrus, mandarin and pink grapefruit. Toffee, apples, red summer fruit, berries, brioche, vanilla pudding, cassis and a light notes of bacon. On the palate you can find a fruity and sweet, warm layer that also has a minty freshness with dark chocolate.

I could find rum soaked raisins, vanilla, lots of fresh and dried fruits, barley, honey suckle and roasted nuts. Floral in the back of the fruit notes where I can find a creamy layer of chocolate and salty caramel. The finish has a good length and shows notes of toffee, vanilla, fruits, dry spices, nutmeg, clove and tobacco. Scoring this one an 8,5 out of 10. Lovely sweet, fruity and balanced.
