Nose
Barley, vanilla, creamy, soft notes of peat, custard, spices, pepper, toffee, fruitcake, dried fruits, banana, and a hint of pear behind the heavy vanilla notes. The peat is not strong on the nose and is hiding behind the sweetness
Palate
Creamy, vanilla, raisin, sweet smoke, liqeurish, thick fruit cake, heather honey, dark berry, black current, red berry, creamy. The smoke is there but it is not overpowering the fruity and sweet aroma's of Zuidam, but enhancing the darker summer fruits more and bringing also the red apple and citrus notes more to the front.
Finish
Medium length finish, with a fresh minty and lemon feel, combined with vanilla and raisins sweetness.
Score
7 out of 10. It feels balanced, it is still young but does not have the roughness of it. It is a very nice combination and balance. Fresh, fruity, sweet and with a hint of smoke... Lovely.
