Gordon & Macphail - Connoisseurs Choice - Dalmore 2001/2015

For Gordon & Macphail #WoodMTW campaign they send over a sample of the Connoisseurs Choice range. This is from the Dalmore distillery and distilled in 2001 and bottled at 46% on 05/03/2015 after being matured in refill Sherry hogsheads.

Soft nose with some sweet fruit notes like red current, blackberries and strawberries. Dried orange peel, hint of floor wax, leather and soft wood notes, vanilla, dried apricots, sultanas and a hint of fermenting apples.

Hint of bitter citrus and woody notes on the palate with some vanilla, powdered sugar and honey coming to the front after the bitter and woody feeling subsided. But not giving me much more then some soft sweet fruit notes beneath it to be honest on the short finish.

I am getting the feeling of some peppery spices when taking a couple of sips more of this whisky but it does not add more for me to it, almost feels like young creamy spirity notes. Not a strong influence of the casks in this expression. Scoring it an 6 out of 10. Thanks Gordon & Macphail for sending over a sample to explore!
