Teeling - The Revival Commemorative Series - Volume II

The people from the Teeling Distillery were very kind to send over a sample of the 13 year old expression that was released in the Revival Commemorative Series. Matured for 12 years, after being distilled in 2002, in a bourbon barrel, and then finished for a year in a 250 litre ex calvados cask. This second limited edition bottling of this series is bottled at 46% and 10.000 bottles were produced going for around 100 euro each apparently.

On the nose I get sweet fresh apple juice, raisins and nutty bread with a thick layer of butter on top. Sweet spring blossom notes of wild flowers and freshly cut grass. Fresh lemon candy notes, nougat, orange peel, grapefruit, pomolo, light note of passion fruit and sweet berries.

The palate is much like the nose and is toffee sweet with vanilla, loads of apples and soft spices. Getting bits of mocha, cocoa powder, raspberries, powdered sugar and light hint of cherry also. The medium length finish also has some dry black liquerish in it. Scoring me an 8/10. A lovely dram, sweet for sure and fruity, but good whisky I think. Thanks for sharing it guys!
