Gordon & MacPhail - Connoisseurs Choice - Benriach 1997/2014

The #WoodMTW campaign from Gordon & MacPhail, you might have seen some posts coming by off that already... Lovely discoveries made in the samples send by them and this one is one of them that I will be looking for a larger bottle for sure!

From the Connoisseurs Choice range comes this Benriach expression, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2014 at 46%. Matured in refill sherry hogsheads and you can feel it on the nose and palate very clearly. Soft spices, warm and fresh fruits, creamy vanilla, apricots, vigs, soft leather and lots of honeyed notes.

Also some herbal notes and different kind of nuts like macademia and almonds. The palate is more sweeter then the nose and rich of red apples covered in honey.

Getting notes of marzipan, soft red summer fruits, crème brulee, liquerish and a hint of clove and sage. Good length and sweet finish reminding me of stracciatella ice cream, thyme and gummy bears. Scoring this an 8,5 out of 10. Lovely whisky, thanks for sharing Gordon & MacPhail!
