Dalmunach - New make spirit

After the visit to Dalmunach just before the Spirit of Speyside festival there was another chance to try out the new make spirit a couple of days later at the tasting with Dave Broom. Not a punishment for sure to taste it again with this lovely spirit at 69,3%

It has a light and sweet nose with some fruit and floral notes beside the malty creamy feeling. Makes me think of a good smoothie with oranges, strawberries, red apple, banana, raisins and vigs.

A warm and sweet palate with loads of fruits, red summer fruits like redcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and some cassis is popping out. The taste of a ripe banana, hint of pear juice, mango and some liquerish in the back.

Bit of elderflower and cherry blossom. Some dryer rye bread notes also appear in the end making it a bit waxy combined with a light fresh citrus note of pink grapefruit and tangerines. It is a very smooth spirit and very drinkable in the way it is just now. Curious to taste the matured spirit in the future and see how the interaction has been with the wood.
