SMWS 7.83 - Fresh, Airy and Sherbety

The February release of the SMWS Whisky for a Year 2014 brings a whisky from the Longmorn distillery called 7.83 - Fresh, Airy and Sherbety. It is distilled on the 20th of May 1993 and after maturing for 19 years in a refill ex-bourbon hogshead it brings 248 bottles at 52,1%

Soft vanilla and bit grassy notes on the nose at first. There is sweet fruit and also fresh notes in this one but feels very soft and far away...

The palate is heavier then the nose first showed. Fruit, vanilla and some prunes. Lemon, apples, pear juice, hint of mint, liquerish sweetness with anise and cherry, pineapple and caramel.

Middle length finish with some light raisins and vanilla notes. It is a good dram, but not blown away by this one and lots of demerara sugar sweetness going around on the finish. Scoring it an 7 out of 10. Wishing the nose was stronger present and giving it more of a balanced feel...
