Exclusively for the Whisky Exchange comes this Benriach bottling. Triple distilled in 1998 and finished in PX cask #7758. Bottled in July 2015 at 48,9% after maturing for 17 years and producing in total 704 bottles
Lovely warm and rich nose. Warm chocolate, vanilla crème, powdered sugar, Oreo cookies, creamy, spices, orange, coffee and blackcurrant.
Palate is warm, spicy and sweet. Getting some nutmeg, vanilla, and the warm notes from the nose. It is not too sweet due to the PX finish but shows the character of Benriach I think clearly.
It has a combination between prunes, sherry, walnuts, almonds, vanilla, chocolate and almost some lavender between the cinnamon, cumin and nutmeg on the medium length finish. Lovely balance, but just a bit too high on the dry spices in the end for me. Scoring it an 7,5 out of 10. Thanks Billy for sharing this with us to try!
