The Ardmore - Legacy

For the #TheArdmoreWhisky Twitter Tasting they lined up the Legacy, Tradition, Triple Wood and Portwood. All lovely Ardmore expressions, but all with their own character for sure. First up was the Legacy, made out of 80% peated and 20% unpeated malt and bottled at 40%.

The nose has a couple of different sides to it it seems. From almond flour, toffee, malt and marzipan, to the sweet soft creamy vanilla, raisins and heather honey. And then going to more creamy lemon cheese cake and pear drops. But don't forget the spicy side to it also with black pepper, cinnamon, kurkumma and soft smoke.

The palate is much like the nose and has a sweet liquerish feel to it. Red apples, lemon drops, mixed herbs, fennel, menthol and fruit sweetness.

There is some earthy dry notes on the nose and palate, that give the feeling of green grass and heather. After a while it reminds me of mocha, coffee and some roasted nuts.

The finish is rather short I find and does not give me a lot of depth. It is a good dram for sure also price wise. But not scoring higher then a 7 out of 10 for me. It feels it can use some more "power" to it...?
