Laphroaig - A.D. Rattray's Whisky Experience Bottling - Tasting Notes

Enjoying a bottling we bottled our self at the Whisky Experience shop. Lovely expression of Laphroaig. Cask #4096, distilled in 1999 and bottled at 8/06/2013 at 56%.

Nose
Smoky, and filled with sweet forest smells, like autumn. A dense forest with packs of leaves and just after a storm. Notes of mushrooms, dark berry, black current, peaty, heather, earthy, honey, liquerish

Palate
First I get the image in front of my eyes of a good plate of fresh pasta with mushrooms and truffles. After that first thought fades away there is some heather, honey and cassis that hit my palate. Dark forest fruits, fudge, vanilla, sweet, chocolate, orange, mint, lemon and a hint of coffee bitter in the back.

Finish
Middle length finish, with some dark chocolate sweetness and a hint of lemon freshness and mint.

Score
7,5 out of 10. Very nice bottling with great notes...  Thinking of pairing this one with a nice plate of fresh pasta :-)

  1. Sounds like my kind of malt! What a nice looking bottle, too. Great review, Ansgar.

    1. Thank you for the comment! Indeed a very nice one! If possible look up their shop and try some of their Cask Strength bottlings :-)
