Nose
Pine, spices, honey, toffee, cherry, coconut, vanilla, creamy, caramel, and some grain sweetness...
Palate
Warm, spicy, cardamon, clove, nutmeg, dark summer fruits, and minty. Some wood notes appear also and cherry, blackberries, and coffee.
Finish
A bit dry coffee flavour, a medium length finish. Also there is some banana dryness that stays in the end...
Score
Doubting how to score this one. One side of me says 7 out of 10 due to the strong coffee bitter notes I not like in there. But on the other end a 7,5 might be in place.
It is a nice dram for sure. Has some rye spiciness to it and that gives it also some complexity and the longer I sit with it the more complex it seems to become.
Black Maple Hill is a Non-Distiller Producer, and all lead back to the Kentucky Bourbon Distillers (Willett Distillery).
Looking around on the internet searching for information on this one they say that this one should have a very 'traditional' mash bill with a relatively high corn content in it combined with the flavoring of rye. And this one should be around 14 years old. It is a bit unclear where the Black Maple Hill exactly is produced, and what the story is about it.
