Balcones - Staff Selection Single Barrel - Texas Single Malt

In the latest #BalconesWhisky twitter tasting we had a chance to look at the Staff Selection Single Barrel drawn from cask 3549 and bottled at 62,5%

On the nose it is sweet and full of spices with a fresh minty side to it. Notes of porridge, pencil shavings, soft citrus notes, apple sauce, nutmeg, Victoria sponge cake, instant coffee, roasted almond, marzipan, earl grey tea, cumin and dark chocolate. After some time I can find also black pepper and a hint of red fruit in the back.

The palate gives back much of the notes on the nose and is fruity, creamy vanilla, raisin, red fruits and hint of liquerish. On the finish it is warm and of middle length. Vanilla, soft milk chocolate, maple syrup, pancakes, lots of butter and a soft note of cherries in the back. Scoring this one an 8 out of 10
