The Ultimate - Rare Reserve - Mosstowie 1979-2013 - Tasting Notes

From the line of The Ultimate - Rare Reserve comes this expression of Mosstowie whisky. Matured in a Bourbon barrel #1355 for 34 years. Distilled in February 1979 and bottled in June 2013 at 51,5%

Nose
Vanilla, sultana's, biscuits, red berries, honey, pepper, custard, creme brulee, powdered sugar coated vanilla bun and some strawberry jam. Hints of gooseberry and some liquerish.

Palate
Sweet, fruit, vanilla, orange, pomolo, green apples, and all the sweet notes found on the nose. The creme brulee with red berries, sweet summer fruits and the liquerish. With some time it revealed more soft creamy, vanilla, citrus, puff pastries and orchard fruits

Finish
Medium length finish. Warm, milk chocolate, creamy, citrus, green apple freshness and vanilla.

Score
A complex and full dram that I gave a 7,5 out of 10 for sure. Sweet vanilla notes, but not too overpowering, mixed in lovely with all the fruit notes and citrus freshness.
