Old Pulteney - 21

Recently visiting the Pulteney distillery resulted in a sample coming home of the 21 year old whisky to make a note of it. Bottled at 46% and a marriage of 21 year old ex-Bourbon and ex-Fino Sherry casks. The nose has for me notes of salty chocolate fudge, sweet red and sour green apples, honeycomb, cherries, tangerine, grapefruit juice, very ripe summer fruit mix, hint of beeswax, chuppa chup bubble gum and roses.

The palate carries loads of sweetness, honey, fudge, fruit cake, oranges, lime, mint, cassis, hint of chocolate, cherries, ripe banana, red apple, red fruit again and a touch of wood spices. A finish that is soft and not long with vanilla and cocoa powder lingering on a bit but it leaves a bit of waxy mouth feel. Scoring me an 7,5/10. Thanks for sharing the sample Old Pulteney!
