Mackmyra Brukswhisky

17th day of The Whisky Advent Calender from the guys at Drink By The Dram brings the Mackmyra
Brukswhisky bottled at 41,4%. It is primarily matured in first fill bourbon barrels but also has some Sherry and Swedish oak casks influence in there with bits of their smokier malt.

On the nose I find it at first a bit mossy almost earthy forrest notes going on in the glass. Some pine freshness, vanilla, banana, strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, warm sweet barley notes, powdered sugar, dried apricots, cream bun and honey sweetness coming forward after a bit of time and warming up my glass.

The palate is much like the nose but also reveals a lemon note at first and is fruity fresh. Some light chocolate notes and lots of red forrest fruit in it. Soft cake notes and some pink grapefruit bitterness coming to the front in the end. Medium length finish, fresh and sweet. Scoring me an 7,5 out of 10.
