From the latest release of Douglas Laing comes this 25 year old expression of Girvan. Bottled at 51,5% and part of the Old Particular series. Total of 232 bottles from a refill barrel with reference DL -10805. Distilled in December 1989 and bottled in June 2015.
The nose is sweet with honey and a light malty note. Some fresh notes of citrus, oranges, grapefruit with the sweetness of liquerish and red apples, banana and cookie dough. Fruit sweet and honey thick combined with white chocolate.
On the palate I find notes like the nose mixed with some pepper, fruit and sweetness. It feels balanced but also has some rosemary bitter in the end on the medium length finish. Makes me think of pot pourri and marmalade. Scoring it an 7/10. It is sweet, but missing some depth on the palate. The nose is stronger but the palate fades quickly it seems...
