Tullibardine - Sherry wood finish - 1993/2009 - Tasting Notes

Tullibardine Sherry Wood Finish, distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2009 at 46%.

Nose
Sweet, raisin, vanilla, fruity, cassis, toffee, cherry, fried fruits and honey suckle.Bit dry tobacco leafs and soft leather lingering in the back with some dark chocolate notes. The nose is definitely influenced by the Sherry wood, but is not overpowering and smooth.

Palate
Same as nose, warm and sweet. Honey and toffee mixed with cherry and other fruit notes. Green apples, red crumbly apples, raisins, bit waxy and dried fruits come to mind.

Finish
Medium length, sweet and bit milk chocolate coming through with some cassis notes lingering on. Bit dry in the end, bit woody and tobacco dryness.

Score
Giving it a good 7 out of 10. It has some great notes. But looking at the depth I am searching for in combination with the price of this bottling then I am missing some. It is just very sweet and lots of cherry, enjoyable yes, but just something missing for a higher score...
