Rutte Koornwijn XO - Tasting Notes

Tasting the Koornwijn XO (Extra Oak) from Rutte & Sons Distillery. They made a special blend of different ages, matured on new and older oak casks.

Nose
Fresh, sweet, spices, liquerish wood, black liquerish, creamy, milk chocolate, hint of oranges and green apples and some thyme.

Palate
Creamy, warm, black pepper, liquerish, bit woody dryness coming through in combination with cocoa powder. Honey sweet, warm and full with spices. Anice, vanilla, raisin, almond paste and dried apricots.

Score
An 7 out of 10...? Difficult to say for me at this time, just started tasting these kind of spirits and find this one to be warming and sweet but just have to much of a reference at the moment. It feel like it could use some more depth a bit?  Thanks Guus for sharing a sample of this one with us!
