At a lovely tasting with some amazing drams, we tasted the Balvenie Single Barrel, first fill 12 years, USA bottling, bottled at 47,8%, from cask #12690
Nose
Soft fruit, light sweet spice, raisin, fruitcake, peach, soft wood notes, sweet, warm, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, eastern spices
Palate
Soft stone fruit, honey, soft, sweet, warm, chocolate, fruit, cocoa, nice honeyed wood notes, toffee, creamy, citrus
Finish
Medium length finish with soft, sweet fruit, and vanilla notes. The wood notes stay also quite long.
Score
7 out of 10. Feels soft, fruity and balanced. But it just misses something wow? After a bit the nose becomes more faded away and more perfume like. Very strange a bit.
