Highland Park - Ragnvald - Tasting Notes

Nose
Sweet, vanilla, red apple, creamy, raisin, stone fruits, plums, lemon zest, orange, chocolade, oak, parma ham... Beautiful...

Palate
Warm spicy, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, very dark chocolate. Some flower honey in the back after the dark chocolate fades to a bit cocoa feel. The sweet fruitiness of the plums go from the nose through in the palate. Creamy, and also some thick rich apple syrup

Finish
Sweet, quite a length of a finish, with some light smoke, raisins and chocolate notes riding it out a bit. Reminds me a bit of a Balisto meusli-chocolate bar in the end strangely.

Score
Scored this one a 8 out of 10. This expression is bottled at 44.6% and sells for around 400 euro. It is beautiful, but have to say that the price is a bit steep for this. But a great dram for sure! What does Highland Park tells us about this series and expression?

The Warrior Series is a range of six single malts whiskies showcasing the very best of Highland Park. Offering a spectrum of flavours but grounded in Highland Park’s gently smoky but surprisingly sweet character. The palate experiences a full flavour journey from start to finish, beginning with lighter vanilla and citrus flavours and moving to more complex, richer and sweeter flavours.

Highland Park has strong Viking roots and this is celebrated throughout the collection. Uniting legends and characters famed for their battle skills, The Warrior Series brings Highland Park’s dramatic heritage to life in a vivid and innovative way. Ragnvald is arguably the most famous and pioneering of all Vikings to enter unchartered waters. Nephew of Earl Magnus, Ragnvald was most at home aboard his longship undertaking his many great expeditions throughout the Middle East and even Asia.
