Exclusive Malts - Tobermory 1995 - 15YO - Tasting Notes

This is a bottling by Exclusive Malts, from the Tobermory Distillery, distilled in 1995, and bottled at 15 years of age. I previously had a Tobermory 15 bottling from them. Looking back on those tasting notes I can see some notes are the same. But found that bottling more leather, then this one strangly. It was going that way certainly, but it was a bit lighter, but still a thick palate on this one.

On some festivals I had the luck of trying some of the Exclusive Malts bottlings and find that they have some very nice whisky's in the collection. This one we tasted at a dinner with friends where we tried to pair food and whisky. Every one brought a bottle to the table and we had a very nice and long night filled with good whisky and food. This Tobermory from Exclusive Malts was paired with a lovely fish, what worked very well.

On the nose I got first sweetness filled with raisins, vanilla, fruit, dates and cane sugar. In the back the notes of peanuts, butterscotch, chocolate and honey became stronger, and more to the front in time. This together with and smell of orange, lemon and figs. A thick and full nose.

When tasting this beauty the first thing that came to mind was a warm and sweet thick fruitcake, filled with walnuts, wintery spices, vanilla, raisin, chocolate and a little bit of peat in the back. Mixed with a hint of salty seaweed and a bit of wood. Thick, smooth and creamy. It lingers for a good while, and gives a sweet taste in the finish of nuts, raisins, fudge and butter...

Very nice one this one, another one on the list to keep in mind of the Exclusive Malts collection. I gave it an 8 out of 10. This one I liked just a bit better then the bottling from Tobermory it self due to the leather in that one. But maybe have to come back to that one in a later time, to see if the tasting notes need to be adjusted.
