#LiquidAmericana

We have received a sample pack to give us the chance to try some American whiskies. The Liquid Americana Twitter tasting was organized by Steve Rush of the Whisky Wire and Arkwright’s Whisky and Wine's on Wednesday 26th June, and was great fun.

The tasting was blind and can be found on Twitter with the hashtag #LiquidAmericana. We were pleasantly surprised by the whiskies tasted, who we now know as to be: Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Small Batch Bourbon, Noah’s Mill Small Batch Bourbon, Bernheim Original Straight Wheat Whiskey, Pikesville Straight Rye and High West Double Rye. We had a great time, and surely will look closes into the products coming from the United States. Below my tasting notes on this evening. Thanks to Steve Rush and Arkwright's again for the possibility to participate in this tasting!

Score
8 out of 10. I did not recognize this one, and we have a bottle at home. That is the beauty of blind tastings you can say, and each moment a dram can taste different that is clear. But still a very very nice dram... For the earlier notes on this one, please have a look here It still suprisses me that your  senses can suprisse you so. I found something familiar in it, but did not think it was this one.

High West Double Rye (46% ABV) Straight Rye Whiskey Nose

Tasting scores explained a bit. It all depends on the moment, ambiance etc, but to have a guideline for my own preferences. This differs for each person. See my wish list in the menu above to see what I prefer the most at the moment. A low score will not meen I will maybe give it a second chance on a later time, but for now it is not for me...

1-5   Mhmm... Not liking this one...
5-6   Don't have to wake me up for this, not bad, but not my preference
6-7   I like, but they just miss something, to make me wanna buy a whole bottle
7-8   Well, you can start waking me up for these, more depth, these I would love to add to my collection
8-9   These are to be enjoyed slowly. These I absolutely would love to have a bottle, but sadly not always in my price range.
9-10 Well, what can I say, just wow...... No words to describe it. Wake me up now!!
