Master of Malt - Springbank - 19 years old - 1993/2012

From Master of Malt, in the Single Cask series comes this Springbank 19 year old expression, matured in cask 482 and bottled at 55,2%. This whisky is distilled in November 1993 and bottled in November 2012.

The nose is at first waxy with notes of lime juice, grass, green apples, powdered sugar and sponge cake. Then sweeter creamy fruit notes of fresh peaches, brown sauce and vanilla.

Through this all some coastal notes and a bit salty feeling to it all. Palate is a bit sweet and also some creamy Greek yogurt with high citrus note on the side almost giving a waxy feel to it. Has some red summer fruit notes and cassis in it. Much like the nose. Soft, not too long finish, making me think of vanilla cake. Scoring me an 7 out of 10.

Not sure anymore how this sample got to us but fun to try out more Springbank expressions. Balanced dram, but just not one that makes me smile, not something for me I think. But can imagine that a lot of people like the briny notes combined with the fruity citrus feeling.
