At the Pot Still Festival tried some rums out and made some notes on this Angostura 1824 from Trinidad & Tobago. They tell us this is a blend and aged in charred American oak bourbon barrels for a minimum of twelve years.
Nose
Dark creamy sugary notes, fresh figs, cocoa powder, tobacco leafs, lemon, mint and a fresh note in the back
Palate
Smooth, creamy, demerara sugar, raisin, light citrus bitter, grapefruit, orange peel, vanilla and potpourri essence. Cheap flower soap? Bit soapy...
Finish
Not a long finish with a vanilla soapy bitter combination
Score
6 out of 10. Not really a favorite of mine have to say.
