Bit dusty and spicy at first, there are some fresh fruit notes there, soft vanilla and green apples. Pear, banana, gooseberry and elder flower blossom come to mind...
Soft gingery and dried fruit, almost candy note appear. It is not that high on the leather that I got on the Founders Reserve luckily. It feels softer, and less rough then that one.
With some water added the apples and pears come more to the front with some oranges. It softness a bit and I get some more pastry, toffee, marzipan and baking spice notes coming through. Combined with some tropical fruit notes and white grapes.
Palate
Warm, spice, sweet, bit leather and green herbal notes coming through. Vanilla, raisin, bit figs, plums, and some orange.
Green apple and a minty liqeurish, combined with banana and pears. Creamy milk chocolate and fudge. Blackcurrent, berries, and summer fruit jam.
Just as with the Founders Reserve I found that the combination of notes brought the feeling to me of getting me a good cheese platter. Looking the website they have combined their whiskies with cheeses also, so I am not going crazy here for some good french cheeses :-)
With adding some water there come almost tropical fruit notes like pineapple to mind and some soft mango. The summer fruit jam returns with the marzipan and some sticky toffee pudding... The cheese gets replaced a bit with some good desert like things it seems.
Finish
Not too strong on the finish sadly, it could have had some more length too it maybe. It ends with the combination of vanilla, summer fruit and chocolate a bit.
With the adding of some water the finish seems to be extending a bit, and getting more a "boost". The mint and chocolate note combined with fruit comes more to the front. Like a rich chocolate fruit cake...
Score
Scored this one a 7,5 out of 10. This one has less of the same mouthfeel I had with the Founders Reserve and must say I liked that better. Feels balanced and has depth in it, to keep you coming back for an other sniff or taste...
