DH17 Dramset - March 2013

From the DH17 store here in the Netherlands we received a dramset a while back. This contained three whisky's for us to taste.

A few days before reviewing these we tasted a trio of Penderyn with Sherrywood, Madeira and Peated. The Peated here I did not like at all, just peat/smoke, and a bit flat almost. There for I must say that I have not opened the other sample yet.

The Sherrywood and Madeira I liked a lot from Penderyn, and at the festival in Leiden last week I tasted the Portwood and the 41 - Madeira also, and must say, I was not disappointed. Very nice! Something you could have in the standard collection at home.

But back to the dramset of DH17... I tasted the other two in the package....

Cadenshead Winecask / 20 yr old / Benriach-Glenlivet
Nose       Flowers and bit malty
Taste      Clove, thyme, plumps, vanilla, raisins, custard
Finish     Short, dry, sharp, liquirish
Score      8 out of 10, nice with some dessert...

Glen Scotia / 18 yr old / New Style
Nose        Nice fruity delicate, tropical hints, nice and sweet and a hint of different spices
Taste       Vanilla, toffee, pepper, and with a coffee?
Finish      Bittery aftertaste. Taste a hint of mint and dark chocolate. And not to forget some
dark red fruit... that stays a bit...
Score       7 out of 10
Very nice drams must say in this dramset, love to see what the next one brings...
In this Dramset were also a Bunnahabhain 18 year old, and a Kintra Littlemill 22 year old. These I have tasted and liked but did not made notes of :-( So here is the link to my husband who made notes (sorry, only in Dutch available)

http://whiskyspeller.blogspot.nl/2013/03/bunnahabhain-18.html  My score 6 out of 10 for this one. Like the independent bottlings a bit better and the 12....

http://whiskyspeller.blogspot.nl/2013/03/littlemill-1989-2011-kintra.html This one gets a 6,5 out of 10. It would have been higher but when added just a tiny bit of water and it became flat, but at first it was beautiful and full of aroma's.
